Hi,
I have an army portepee 43 sm length in very bad condition. The tassel with crow and the stem are cut of from the cord. About 10-15 sm from the lower part of the cord is untwist and some parts missing.A part of the cord about 25-26 sm is in perfect condition and it is possible to make Luftwaffe 23 sm portepee. The problem is that I haven’t any idia how to make proper connection between the cord and the tassel.
Can somebody help me please?

Hi Pesho,
Your best bet is to contact Tom Johnson he might be able to help you out, i have one in the simular condition i keep for original to dagger reasons (cord only detached were looped over CG) and would be very interested to know what you find out. I have thought of finding some silver thread and try to sew the cord back together.
Can you post a picture.

Eric

Here is the result of my efforts . I did it on my own way - I don’t know it’s the proper one but I believe that now knot looks very good .

Definately looks better, now you have a Luft portepee. Nice handy work, i have patience but not when it comes to this type of repairs.

Thumbs Up,

Eric
