i have an original helmet that someone
wanted to "upscale" and applied a repro
SS decal.
any suggestions on how i may remove the decal other than "scraping" it away.

Yes - if it doesn't have lacquer applied try "solv-a-set" used for model aircraft and see if it will relieve the decal. Otherwise use fingernail polish remover on a cotton swab. That should do it. Go slow. Any questions, just send me a PM. I have done lots of these.....
