Or is it called semichrome?

Anyway, it seems impossible to find around here, guess its only common in the US(?). Seems like the only way to get it is to order from the internet. So my question is:
Is there something similar i Europe?
Does Autosol, for example, have the same effects?

I play and collect National resonator guitars, which were made out of Nickle plated German Silver during the Depression.
I've used SimiChrome, but also a product called MAAS Polishing Creme from MAAS International. I think the MAAS creme is less abrasive for metals. I beleive that product is available in Europe.

You might also check out metal cleaners for Porsche, as I remember they sell a factory product very much like Simichrome for plated metal cleaning and restoration.

And that does explain why some daggers that I have bought from the US smells exactly like Autosol...

It is made by Happich of Germany and is called "Simichrome". Try looking them up.

You can buy it in tubes and cans. We (GDC) sell the tubes. I think it is sold in the UK.

Anyone know why it is not sold in Germany ?

Probably because Flitz is the dominant product of this type and is produced in Germany!

Take my advice,do not use Autosol.It is very abrasive and needs care in use.

Hi Everyone, Autosol is also made in Solingen.
I do not think its anymore abrasive that any other metal polish.you could always use their gold and silver polish if you think the other is to abrasive,Regards stan

Tel. 804-353-1812. It is formulated with a non-abrasiv cleaning agent, and is good for gold, plated-surfaces, blued finishes and leather.

Buy the 8 Oz. can and you are probably set for lifetime.

I use a product called MAAS...german made I believe...works well...not too abrasive...I use in on the chrome on my Harley...

I have just sent off for some simichrome,but i
am not sure how to use it.I have a m33 ss dagger
early one solid nickle fittings, the blade has
some black spots. Do you put a small amount on
a cloth and rub the affected area? and if so will it leave a bright spot where you cleaned
and make the rest of the blade look odd. I.ll
be honest i am a bit frightened of messing the
blade up, any tips on useing this stuff gents.

Basically it is Autosol just put some on a cloth and rub it in until it almost vanishes. Then just rub it with a clean cloth. I doubt it will get your black spots off the blade though.

Simichrome is mildly abrasive, so yes, if you keep rubbing in one spot, it will polish the cross graining away and leave a shiney spot, and the black spot will still be there, or at least gray. The black spots are rust, and cannot be removed without leaving evidence.
