I'm still a newbie but I want to add an RZM to my HUGE collection of 1 early SA.
So I'm looking at this one that is in great shape, but I'm suspect of anything that is so shiny! I don't see any red flags, but some advice from the experts would help.

Here's the seller's description:
This Dagger was an Auction purchase that had 80 Daggers from one collection, all apraised by Bill Shea.

Scabbard is exc with one tiny scaratch, handle is perfect with no dents or dings and fit to crossguards is exc. Eagle and roundel are mint All fittings are 100% as to plateing. Blade shows 100% Crossgrain and Burnishing. Does have a few tiny blems in blade that you have to look for. it is the nicest i have ever owned or seen.

I've posted the photos here:

Nice looking NSKK dagger, I see nothing suspect about it. The later plated fittings do look like that when they are in good condition but so many have plating loss.

Is $950 a fair price?
Is E Knecht& Co a rare maker mark?

Hi doctorhifi, the McSarr rarity scale only covers Maker marked daggers.
But as a transitional dagger,ie marked mark and RZM code it is quite a rare dagger.
For the price you quote, I would expect it to be an early maker marked.
A lot depends how much you want the dagger, offer him $800,nats

I would agree that $950 seems a little steep however the condition is there & it is wearing a $75 hanger. I think we have all paid a little high for something that we really wanted & price inflation soon claws some of it back.

Make an offer as suggested but personally I wouldn`t miss out on a piece I wanted for the sake of $50 or $100, it`s small potatoes in this hobby. JMO of course Smile
