What do you think about this dagger, dated 1933 as gift, but with the RZM marking, and which is supposed to own to an Blutorden decorate...2 storks, and "C" "H" "A" on the tang, "ST" marks in the crossguards..

Well, For one they should have found a early blade
and a aged hanger. The RZM is all I need to see on
the blade. 1933 dated scabbard. There's a lot more
to say but for me it's a clear FAKE! -wagner-

Thanks Stan. As usual, you do the research. We
can now throw this one in the " no question fake" bin.
Wonder how many collectors have one of these in
their collection? -wagner-

Hello All,
I guessing you are new to collecting, no offense intended but RZM marked blades were not produced before 1936 this should have been your fisrt clue, as for the rest of the dagger it might be original and the blade was replaced. it's always hard to tell from pics but it looks good to me.

Stan, Have to admit that "your" example is better
looking. It's amazing how many of these engraved
"jobs" are now in circulation. $5,000 I'm not suprised. This one "looks" good, but I would not trust it anyway.
Eric, we're not new. No offensive. I guess you didn't read my earlier post. Besides not having a proper blade, a proper hanger, it also has a childish swastika on the tang nut. But SOME collectors want to B-E-L-I-E-V-E. And the fakers have known this for a long time. So they take them for BIG $ now. Nothing really new. Just the ammounts have increased. -wagner-

Thanks Scott. That is a excellent thread with many
veterans weighing in. Very informative. However I
see Joe Linge removed his photos. I hear he got
disgusted with all the fakes and is no longer with us. -wagner-

I have one with leather covered scabbard in the correct way. Also presented on rear upper fitting. Not as ornate however.
Following the last go around Fred Stephens had a hands on and pronounced it GOOD.
At which time a Dealer jumped in and wanted to buy!!!
