Hi, here in Australia customs make it reasonably difficult to import daggers so I'm pretty much limited to the local market and these things don't come up often at any price. I saw a Malsch & Ambron / Steinbeck dagger today that the dealer describes as 1934. It has a sword and anvil type logo and appears to be pre RZM. The blade presents well but on closer inspection there appears to have been some light pitting and the blade has likely been polished so no cross graining. The motto is deeply etched and presentable. The nickel plating is excellent with no flaking. The timber handle is nice and only has a few light dents. The scabbard is pretty oxidised but not deeply and is plain metal finish, the dealer said it was original anondized.(I thought anondized meant aluminium?)
There is another engraving on the hilt Sa.

Anyway, I can't afford atm to spend the $1000+ for a minter and am quite happy with this as a display one until something better comes along. Is $600 a reasonable price for a knife of this vintage / condition? Sorry, only seem to be able to post one photo but happy to email more. Many thanks, Craig

Craig, In my opinion I do not think that is worth anything like $600, more like $250. For $600 you should be doing much better.

Cheers

Agree. Not worth anywhere near $600.

If I remember correctly, you can import these into Auz, but you have to get a permit. Try emailing member "PeterB" pharold38@iinet.net.au and ask him.
