Guys, what is the best thing to clean / preserve the timber on the SA daggers or are they better left alone. I use lemon oil on my vintage guitars which is meant to keep the timber crack free and also a good cleaner. I was told the best thing for the timber and the blade was lanolin as oil retains water and actually aids rusting. I thought maybe gun oil on the metal ware? Thanks in advance.

Best thing I ever found to clean and preserve a blade was carnuba wax. They use it as a car polish for ferraris and porsche etc. Completely non abrasive and will not remove burnishing or scratch the metal. Once applied a few times it is completely moisture resistant and has a nice luster simply rub it on and leave it to dry and polish it off with a soft cloth.

You can use a quality furniture wax and find the results pleasing or Renwax, which I use on all my grips.

Renwax or a good furniture wax works on both the grip and the blade. Put on a light coat and let it dry. wipe it off and you will be surprised at how much gunk comes away.
