Oleg- I will say that this piece was priced at $1,250.00 (Ya, that's were prices seem to be going guys. Eek)
What I paid for it was somewhere between what I wanted to pay, and what he wanted to sell for. Wink
The dealer that sold me the dagger said that he had recieved 2 of them exactly the same from a vet who got them out of the factory after the war. The dealer kept one (smart guy Wink) and he sold the other. I don't have a hard time believing the story since it really is in near perfect condition.

Wagner- It is listed as an 8 on the McSaar list.

Beautiful dagger. Smile Examples like this have been bringing four figures for some time now, so I don't think you overpaid.

I have to agree with Skyline. Even at $1250 it was a decent deal. Sweet dagger Johnny.

Thats an awesome dagger. I bought an F Von Brosy Steinberg at last years max. According the the description on the dealers site mine is...
"Nickel-silver hilt fittings show minor surface wear/age patina with upper edge of reverse lower crossguard group marked, "Ho" (Hochland). NOTE: Uneven strike with "o" faintly impressed into the crossguard. Reddish brown, fine grained wooden grip shows minor surface wear with no cracks or chips and with silver grip eagle and SA insert properly inset. Polished, mirror finish blade grades EX++/Near MINT showing light runner marks with 100% of the light gray background frosting remaining in the deeply etched motto. Dent-free scabbard retains approximately 95% of the brown anodization /lacquer with one spot of oxidation on the lower reverse. Early nickel silver scabbard fittings with unturned screws, show light surface wear with a tiny "ping" to the obverse lower fitting, but no depressions to the lower ball. Dagger is complete with unmarked brown leather hanger and belt loop with early nickel silver buckle and unmarked hanger clip. Near MINT"

If the dealer you bought yours from had it listed on his site go and copy and save his description if it.
According to fisher its a 1 and Mcsarr its an 8

Congradulations!!!!

Wow, look at that crossgraining! And the "anodizing" is fantastic...just a little wear at the point the hanger hits it. Does the ball have a slight smush?...no matter..really, just as good as it gets!
