Hi everyone,

I just became a member and yes, I ordered the special order. I really know nada about the subject and have only found this forum today.
I only really got interested only a week ago after trying to find the value of a dutch airforce dagger left to me by my grandfather.
(apparently only thousand made ever)
Saw some nice stuff on ebay and this prompted some research mainly in the SA history.
I am not use (yet)to the large amounts spent on these daggers so I decided to start small.
And yesterday my first items arrived in the post. Two blades!! All I know one early one daniel peres and late RZM blade 7/2.
Now I need the rest of the parts..
Most of you are probably laughing at me right now, but ya gotta start somewhere.
"interest is the beginning of an addiction".
Hope you guys/girls can give me advice and collecting tips for this beginning collector.

Thanks,

PJ

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on your first purchase. Peres is a tough to find maker. Good luck finding the parts. It is usually hard to find parts that will fit together well, but I hope you find what you're looking for. It is hard to justify spending large amounts of money starting out, but as a general rule, you're better off buying the best stuff you can afford. You'll be happier with it in th long run, and its much eaiser to re sell something in better condition.

Read as much as you can here and in reference books, ask questions, befriend people in the hobby, and handle original daggers as much as you can would be the best advice I can give you.

Shes been through the fire before and I believe she can take a whole lot more
So we raise her up every morning, we take her down every night, we dont let her touch the ground and we fold her up right.
On second thought, I do like to brag, cause Im mighty proud of that ragged old flag.
