I inhereted a dagger from a WW2 veteran and avid collector of weapons about 30yrs ago.

I've done a little research, but obviously don't have much of an understanding of what I've got really.

It's an SA dagger (looks like it from pictures ive seen). issuer is E.P.&.S. and it has "Nrh" on the hilt (Nierderrhein Gruppe I understand).

I haven't touched it in 30 yrs - its been in an old shoe box. The handle has a bit of a chip on it near hilt and the scabbard has a dent and some aodising it looks like. Other than that is in decent condition - probably needs a nice clean up and a bit of TLC to make it look nice - but I wouldn't want to clean it unless I damaged it in some way.

What I'm wondering is - how rare/common it is and an idea of its value...

Thanks - any help appreciated.

You need to post some pictures; different angles and sides of the piece. There are some very knowledgable people here who will tell you what you have.

Welcome,

Don't clean it at this stage. There is nothing you can do to increase the value and a lot you can do to reduce it.

Post pictures if you can - 100KB limit.

E. P. & S. is a common maker and I good guess of value would be between $400 and $800 highly dependent upon the actual condition...which if really minty could go close to $1,000.00.

My somewhat personal educated guess for 'ballpark' value.

Not so bad at all..probably worth around $500 maybe $600. The scabbard looks to be in good shape and they alone in excellent condition can bring $200 if not damaged.
