Hello!

I have bought a NSKK dagger, and the maker is HCH. Krom. I wonder if it´s a rare maker?

Thanks

/Martin

It's a maker rare maker that I have not seen.
However the blade seems to have been polished or vigorously cleaned at some point. The motto is lacking burnishing. Also the scabbard perhaps has been refinished/painted?

Thanks for the answers Serge.

So you think the blade has been polished? And all that i know of the scabbard is that it have been painted black for NSKK.

Yes, I believe the blade has been polished. It's just my opinion. Whenever I see all the burnishing gone and the letter edges edges on the motto appear to be somewhat rounded it is an indication of polishing.
The scabbard paint appears as a repaint to me when compared to the comparisson wear as seen on the body of the grip insignia. Scabbard finish is usually the first to show signs of wear. Maybe a period repaint. It's hard to be 100% without a hands-on inspection.
Perhaps some other of our colleagues will comment on these issues.
However that being said. You still have a rare maker dagger. And Mark, who is a well known to us collector of SA daggers says he never seen one by this maker, be glad you got this example.
So far you have two SA collectors who never seen this maker. Wink
Congrats! Smile

I would insure it for $1,000.00. If it's not for sale..that would seem fair given it's pictorial condition I think. That's my opinion. If it was not polished...probably another $500.00, but it appears it has been and that is never good.
