Ivan I am very suspicious that this may be a parts piece.
You do not normally see gau stamped crossguards on RZM vintage pieces.
Especially from a maker that was not even in the Reich when gau stamped pieces were issued!
BTW this is one of the few makers who produced no early maker marked daggers only RZM's

Paul,
Thank you,if that firm only produced RZM period daggers,as listed in Fisher, would they have applied chrome plated crossguards etc.as opposed to solid nichol type?
Ivan.

Ivan, Yes I tend to expect RZM's to have plated crossguards. I have learned by now to never say never but that is my expectation...
Sam, that's a tough question. 7/116 is the only code I can think of offhand. I remember it cause I specifically looked it up when I had one a couple months ago. Others may exist and the collective knowledge here may know more. I have noticed that the nonGerman makers tend to be towards the higher RZM numbers. Likely these numbers were applied for after the countries were anexed. Now just cause they got RZM codes does not mean they nessesarily excercised their right to make them. Interestingly, many concerns that made early maker marked daggers stopped when the switch was made to RZM. Why? That's likely a thread on it's own!!
Below is a list of several makers who applied for codes that I have never seen RZM daggers for. Notice several are outside Germany. More I'm sure exist.
I'm sure some day we'll have RZM's included in the McSarr....
M7/99 Franz Weinrank, Wien
M7/100 Franz Pils & Sobn, Wien
M7/101 Fritz Weber, Wien
M7/102 Franz Pils & Sohn, Steinbach am St.
M7/104 Ludwig Zeitler, Wien
M7/105 Rudolf Wurzer, St. Christophen
M7/106 Georg Kerschbaumer, Steinbach an der Steyr
M7/108 Karl Oschmann & Co., Brotterode i. Th.
M7/109 Thomas Weilpütz, Solingen-Höscheid
M7/110 Felbeck & Pickard, Solingen
M7/111 H. Herder, Solingen
M7/113 Berndorfer Metaliwarenfabrik - Arthur Krupp AG., Berndorf
M7/114 Hugo Linder C. W. Sohn, Solingen-Weyer
M7/115 Erhardt Reich, Schwcina
M7/117 Julius Pilz Sohn, Nixdorf

Very interesting Paul, I would love to get some more information if there is any other known producers except M7/116 Franz Frenzel, Nixdorf, that really made only RZM SA:s?

Yes - that normally only comes with copies.

The rest of the dagger (and not the hanger) is original, though.

A week from now I can show you more...

Here are some pictures of the 7/116 that the nice postman brought to me yesterday.

The dagger is in a very nice original condition (even the crossgrain is present) but please note that the RZM mark is a bit out of angle.

Please don't ask me WHY there is a washer and WHY the leather on the hanger is unoriginal.

The dagger will by the way be put on sale...

Jesper
