Wow, you never cease to surprise us. What a beauty! Is that oil I see on the blade?

So, you're the lucky one who got it! I remember seeing it at Johnson's webpage some weeks ago. Very impressing and worth every cent it costed.

Nice one but You will never know if this engravings are pre or post war. I used to have two daggers like that and I could not stop thinking if they were period engaved. I have sold'em all.

Im 100% happy with mine, they will never be sold and I really love them so I guess thats the main thing. Same could be said for any dedication or etching to any dagger, firearm, medal, or piece of Jewellery. For me I think the devil is in the detail. On this piece the work has been intricately initialled so I am just doing the research.

I know its ok Gottlieb, I knew before I did "show and tell" with this and the NSKK that people would be thinking or saying stuff like that. At the end of the day its down to people to make their own minds up.

We are collectors in a hobby where you need to be so careful, I got bumped $8,000 on a full Rohm recently. On the other hand I bought a beautiful 36 straight from the Nazi that owned it that was unquestionably right.
http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/728099473/m/2190064075

I showed it to a dealer and he told me that you can see it is all 100%, best one he had ever seen in hand etc. Then went on to tell me that the step between the grip and the crossguards was higher than he would normally like to see. Also the ridge in the blade was quite high. He said buying this stuff sometimes means you are so suspicious of every little detail that you can think some of the right stuff is wrong.. He carried on to tell me its so good to see they came like that sometimes. I told him I was never selling it but he made me promise that if I ever did I would offer it to him first.

I bought these bits off Johnson, I love them both and they are in the book. For me apart from finding another Nazi with one, its probably the best I can do if I ever want to own one.

Posting stuff on here like this allways raises debate and questions but I wanted to share them.

Their opinions are usually from jealousy. There is a saying that "If you dont have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all." I think its a sweet dagger and only wish I could find one and could afford to buy it. Nice score. SmileMark

I dont know what mongo paid for this piece, but allowing for the cost in having work like that done post war I would hazard a guess that he's in the black with that one.

If it was profitable to have ,say a near mint dagger, enhanced to that degree today, don't you think we'd be seeing many more about. I love it, just wish I could afford or even find stuff like that.
