My first reactions it to say repro. The FHH experts here would need to see a closeup of the scabbard near the tip to see if there was the flaw that originals have to help confirm this. There are many other subtle things that the FHH experts could tell us.

Craig estimated there were 50 FHH daggers made, and today there are about 15-20 that are documented to be in collections. Good repros are hard to find as well.

The artificial damascus blade with all the extra gold gilt looks so similar to ones I have seen on many repros from the 60's on SS honor, HJ leader, and other repro daggers. They always go overboard with the gilt.

But, I'll stand aside and let the experienced collectors weigh in.

Is this the same seller who had the gilt presentation army and luft daggers posted last week. I cant remember his name but do remember he resided in Italy. Nice to look at and expensive to reproduce I would have thought.....he only has to find one sucker per dagger Confused.

Degens,

Same guy with the damast Heer and Luft blades last week. He's also had a number of "interesting" items over the last 6 months.

INCREDIBLE copy. Nice attempt.
BTW Lutze´s presentation FHH dagger is well known and I think to remember in an UK collection. It is totally different to this one.
This one also differes in several details to the "normal" right thing beside the blade (if you have the chance to compare Wink). Seems to be one of those cast copies.
Currently it is the "common" price for a copy sold at auctions I have seen some time ago. I think this one will still go up due to the "special" blade and the case.
An item for those who know they will never get the right one ("normal") out of those about 10-15 still existing originals Cool.

Way out of my field here , but I just saw it on Ebay and wanted to see the comments about it on GDC . Notice the actual meaning of the inscription :

" DEM Stabschef der S.A. Viktor Lutze zum 47. Geburtstag " - Wouldn't this VERY one then have belonged to him ..? ( TO the Chief of Staff .. for his 47th Birthday .. )

" given by = VOM.." the Officer's Corps of Feldherrnhalle..

And if there was only 1 ever made , surely it is not the one offered here ?

$ 3050,- with 5 days to go .

E-bay pulled the auction.

I still say it is a repro, but it is auctions like this that bring out the wolves in people. I will bet you $20 someone "reported" the auction to E-bay and is trying to get this guy in Italy to sell it off line.

I don't know about that - could have happened from anywhere. People on E-bay who want something and don't want the bidding to continue regularly "report" Third Reich items. They know E-bay likes to scratch them anyway. Unethical, but people do it.

Or, E-bay might have just cancelled the auction using their "sniffer." They look for the following: nazi, SS, SA, Hilter, and swastika.

well i was the high bidder before it got pulled for the 1st time and i can assure you it wasnt me! apart from the fact i wont deal off ebay, i got banned for over a year and a half after i had been "potted" repeatedly. I wish ebay would tell you who dobbed you in, it would sure as hell stop a lot of it.

hi to all,
please someone has a pics of the original guaranteed dagger?
i see directy from the owner this dagger, i have doubt to tell it is securely a copy..........and only because i have a chemical and fisical laboratory and test the material of this dagger, the blade is original aged more or less 50-60 years ago, the composition of the metal is not new, it's the same of more daggers original.
Someone could send photo on the forum of an original guaranteed one? i could go and make photo of this strange one, we must compare the other particular, i could't say nothing about the grip, the scabbard, the eagle

Buon giorno eughen, and welcome to the forum.

So you have seen this dagger in person, and conducted chemical tests on it? Interesting, what kind of tests?

Here is a photo of a certified original FHH dagger from the site's Reference gallery as you requested.

I don't have too many doubts about the authenticity of this one, it's fake still it is a real "looker". I saw a nice copy of one of these a few months ago on Manion's. I am not crazy about fakes, but well, how many get to own one of these? The one on Manion's went for $1500 and it was represented as a repro. I do have concerns about this being sold as an original.
