I just got this great looking 'Bereitschaftspolizei -Berlin ' tunic with pants .Do not know if this was West- or East Berlin --but based on the quality cloth and tailoring ,I think it was West-Berlin . May be George can tell me the date this was worn .Posted by Bernd.

The left-hand side interior has a huge lined pocket --big enough to hold a handgun. Also the exterior lower left-hand pocket flap has under it a strap with a mtl.clip for may be the lanyard strap to the pistol,--as not to loose it !!!

Bernd,

A very nice West Berlin Polizei uniform. I have one from the regular West Berlin Schupo that is identical except for being a summer weight tunic. These are from the 1950s through the 1960s I believe.

Here is the DDR Bereitschaftspolizei patch as worn by the East Berlin Volkspolizei. These were of course the militarized barracked police who handled riots and border incidents.

The pants on the underside of the right-hand back pocket sport a torn paper label that has printed on it :BAWI-GMBH-Bekleidung ---Bawi-Haus ---Auftrag Nr.(and in a red ink cancel )Polizei. Hope you enjoyed this . Bernd .

Here now the manufacturer's paper label . By- the-way , the tunic came with the nylon material shirt and the lite-blue tie in the photos. Thanks George for your promt answer ,--before I even had finished ! .What kind of visor cap would go with this tunic?
