Hi Dave I went out and bought the camera strictly for this purpose but I cheaped out( because I dropped $400.00 a year before on a decent SLR) and now am paying the price. It takes good outside portraits and landsacapes but is terrible with close ups and indoor or night pics. Hard to get detail gets fuzzy. cheers, Ryan should have listened to my wife!
