THis shako plaqte was probably issued during the Weimar period. It is gold wash and must have been issued to an officer.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Overview of the plate.

This looks like a nice Prussian Tschako plate but not for an officer. These gold plates were worn by Landjägerei and Gemeindepolizei.

Dear Joe,

Officer's plates have a hard enamelled "eagle" on the front rather than the "painted" black eagle.

Here is my plate very like yours except in silver:

And a side view showing how far the "star" protruded from the face of the plate:

Finally a brass plate with silver wash for use by the schutzpolizei. Same basic design as your plate but with 1st pattern eagle rather than a 2nd.

Very nice examples of early shako plates! I really like that gold one, must be that Landjägerei fascination I have! Thanks for posting!

Nice pictures of your plate and it is even attached to a shako.
