Dear All,

I recently get this Dienstrock in Germany.

I am not a specialist of firepolice tunic, but for 20€ I guess it was a good bargain! I noticed the track of the round amreagle patch on the left sleeve:

But my question is about teh construction of the back :

There is no central sewing line

Does it mean the jacket was cut with the impérial schape or is there the standar shape for fire police tunic of the third reich?

I believe your tunic is an example of the M1934 Prussian Feuerwehr Dienstrock. Sleeve eagles were applied after the 1936 police consolidation. Are the buttons polished nickel or matt aluminum? Cloth was more plentiful in 1934, so the back was made from one cut of a bolt of cloth.

Thanks for your reply RW. The buttons looks like nikel polished, the rear hook-buttons are like the ones on the imeperial tunic

daviken,

I agree with Joe that your FW tunic looks perfectly OK and it was simply cut with a three piece back instead of the normal pattern with a four piece back. As you indicate, this is not unknown for Imperial period uniforms but odd for later tunics. A tailor variation I would suspect.
