Have German M1884/98 3rd Pattern phosphated bayonet for 98k Mauser w/red riveted bakelite grips (1944), serial 4978 ff; 44 ASW on sheath. Any idea of range of value?

Like most other things I would imagine that the amount of original finish has a bearing on the price. I know what some have gone for in the distant past, but have not seen one for sale recently. FP

If the bayoent is numbermatched and fine condition its worth 200 US $

In Norway are such type of bayos very popular collector bayonets.

This one is riveted and if advertised as such imo $350 easy. Riveted examples are a tough find nowadays in any condition Smile.

I agree with Degens on prices.

I have two 44 asw rivetted red grips in my collection.

8005 cc – matching
1663 dd - matching

Both are in very good condition.

Each cost in the region of $350.00

Cool

Yepp if you buy from a dealer Wink

But sometimes you can buy direct from folks having this bayos from the war stored. Or they sell it on the internet auctions lokaly. Then you can do a good price on it.

I dont collect bayonets. Have some few rare ones only .
Daggers and Kampfmessers are my collector area.

yes the price is hard to predict about a month ago i was bidding on a 44 asw with red riveted gribs, only not a phosphated example so andy said, but matching and it went up to over 700 euros Eek so i thought to my self..ehh Nope ill pass that one lol, the bajonet certainly is not worth 700 euros but then again for him it must have been Roll Eyes its all about what the bidder is willing to pay that can be 100 euros or 700, but 350$ to start with, for that paticulery bajonet of yours does not sound unrealistic to me. These bajonets are terrible rare i was lucky enough to buy my greyghost for just 90 Euros the dealer didnt know how rare it was lol

probably because it was so rough made and the blade has almost like a banana shape )they most have been very busy at the factory when it was made so he most have thought it wasnt worth that much
