Any ideas on the origin of this bayonet? The blade is marked WG and the scabbard is marked M 17146. The bayonet measures 23 5/8 inches long overall.

Probably Portugal M1886 Kropatschek.WG is a part of Austria stamp OEWG for Steyr.the sabbard could be french yataghan? is too long for this piece.M number is probably a serial number of rifle? best regards,Andy

Thanks, I believe that it is a Kropatschek bayonet. I never noticed that is is marked on the back 1886 Steyr. You are right about the scabbard it is way too long.
