A number of months back I had purchased a knot which turned out to be a Luft EM bayo knot, flak regiment marked (on the inside of the strap. Anyway, I had posted images of the bayo, knot and scabbard. At the time I had inquired in the thread about the scabbards throat markings. At the time I was under the impression that the throat markings were of numeric characters "15" and "3". However, today, while cleaning the bayo and of course, playing with it, I realised that the scabbard throat is actually marked "315" and "3". The "3" that preceeds the "15" is ever so faint and almost unnoticeable. It wasn't until today when the light caught it at just right angle that I noticed the "3" preceeding the "15".

Does anyone have any idea or insight what the marking refers to or if the update information has any bearing what-so-ever? Would the clarification shed any light on the meaning of the markings? The bayo and knot are from Eickhorn.

I'm attaching a photo and if you look closely you'll be able to see it.

Thank you in advance for any information.

Tom

I believe the number to be "815" although many of the initial digit look like a "3". No one's been able to identify the significance of it so far but it's thought to be a part number. I know I've got a bunch of them, sadly it's not an inventory number.

Billy,

Good call my man. You're right. Definitely an "8" based on the character formation traits. We have a "3" to compare it to...and clearly it's an "8".

I had to use a higher resolution setting to capture the mark. Kurts photo resizing tool is nice and allows us to shrink larger files so GD will accept them (i'm a little lazy and this way don't have to fiddle with my editing software to downsize the images).
