My guess would be around 1922 when Weyersburg & Kirschbaum was taken over by the Solingen steel casting association although this is purely speculation. While we are on the subject of makers, I have been trying to locate the family history for Carl Eickhorn, birth, death, successors or anything related to his genealogy.
I would appreciate any pointers.

They dropped the kings head before WWI. Around 1910??.. I will do a little more checking in my referance books and files... Than you have the short, and long neck knight. Again all before 1919 Regards: Jim

Thanks for contributing Jim.

Maybe it helps to say that I saw the king & knight´s heads on the carbine blade of a KS98 with stag grips (3 rivets). Would somebody know when the carbine blade style started to appear?

Thanks for the replies.

So we have got:

until 1922 (as a guess)
until 1914
pre-WW2

I don´t know, hence I wouldn´t ask, but my gut feeling is that is was used after 1914.

BTW: A carbine blade (Karabiner Klinge in German) is the short blade with the narrow fullers and false edge. I am not sure the term "carbine blade" is used in English.

The thing about TM's is that there always seems to be exceptions. It is VERY hard if not impossible IMO to exactly pinpoint types used during certain years especially with Eickhorn and WKC. I have a rare Navy dagger that probably was made in the late 20's but has the king and knight TM
