A few more details:The hilt has purple color bake-o-lite grip plates, (I am wondering if the photography is an issue in terms of how the color shows. The reverse upper pommel top is double stamped with the waffen ampted number, "253". This also matches on the lower scabbard ball. The blade is serial numbered on the obverse ricasso, "9951". This matches the number which is stamped into the upper scabbard obverse area. It is also possible to see the number, "8973" which is covered over by some stampings which look like ellipse figures. (This stamping is definitely factory done and accordingly, this is a matching numbered bayonet. The reverse of the bayonet is stamped, "E. Pack & S."
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Todd

The frog ist ok.

The bayont is not in the original condition.

red bakelit gripps were put on. New finisch.

The original serial number is stamped over by a new one.

I don´t think that is a german wartime rework.

Gardist,
Thanks for your opinion. From your opinion and othersI have decided to not get this. I want one that doesn't have unanswered questions regarding it.
Best regards,
Todd

the rog is very rare and in a fine condition.

The rework is done very well. But it isn´t the original condition of a E.Pack (clear maker name) 1937 - 1940.
