Would welcome opinions as to whether this 44pyy flashguard has been removed, or possibly if manufactured without one. From looking at the grip screws, I suspect it's probably been removed.
Also thought you might like to see a 98k being sold as SS. Very black sticky looking blade has faint circle surrounding SS runes. Sorry about picture, best I could get.
is the whole flashguard missing or only the top blade?
on the grips you can see the a spare speca...were normal the flashguard is.
the ss symbol is a fake. ss bayonets normal not stamped and a ss-acceptence in this way never exist...because the ss have no acceptence büro like the heeres-waffenamt.
the ss peaces (i get serval from ss verterans) are buyed in privat contracts from the maker, because the ss..also the police were state organisations. so the maker stamps are not on the blades or differnet.
pyy is a maker code of army/air-force contract (Heereswaffenamt = WaA). not ss.
you also can see the WaA accaptence stamp on the pommel top.
the bayonet looks like to be used after the II WW in a eastern state.
Concerning manufacturer's names and or logos on SS Bayonets they do exist. Two typical manufacturers of SS Bayonets that have marked their bayonets are: WKC & Horester.

I realise the ss logo is an overstamped fake,but just thought it might be of interest. It's the 98k Berg pyy missing flashguard I suspect.I think it has probably been messed with,but there is no colour change on the wood grips where the flashguard would have been.There don't seem to be any other telltale marks either.Does anyone know of a similar 98k manufactured without a flashguard?
I probably didn't make it clear but these are TWO different bayonets.The first two are of the 44pyy. The final picture is the dodgy "ss" one.There are no odd markings on the 44pyy.
I wa talking about the one without flashguard. This one hasn't been faked, it has just been arsenal refinished by a eastern europe country who reused it after the war, in the 50's and 50's. The second one with fake SS stamps probably come from austria or Germany, and has been messed up by people trying to pass it as a SS. Most of the one i've seen in european fairs were sold by seller from Germany and Austria. TOO bad two rare 44pyy has been trashed that way...
If it's '44 dated, I need it!

hallo,
i never said always no logo. they used bayonets out of privat contracts with the typical private logos or no logo. and always no (official) acceptence stamps.
i need one in my collection havent been able to find one yet in matching condition..
