In a message dated 5/19/2008 6:56:17 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, shipwrecks.research@yahoo.com writes: Hello again Gordon: Thank you for your answer. To be honest, I am not a typical collector. As I said before some of the items I have got as a payment for my archival research work. But some of them I have found personaly. From time to time I take my metal detector and detect some places of historical interest and local battlefields. I am sending to you some photos I made during my detecting trips. I hope you will like them. But my main interest is archival research, sailing and wreck diving. That is my main passion. As I said before my main interest is archival research, sailing and wreck diving. A few years ago me and my friends from Polish Maritime Museum found a wreck of English merchantman "General Carleton of Whitby" which sank in 1787 in Baltic Sea. I made an extensive archival research in Whitby and London archives. As I mentioned before I had a few friends in National Maritime Museum and Ministry of Defence. Okay, these are my prices: 1. Kriegsmarine dagger - 300 Euro. 2. Luftwaffe dagger - 300 Euro. 3. Wehrmacht dagger - 260 Euro. 4. SA dagger - 280 Euro. 5. SS dagger - 300 Euro. 6. HJ dagger - 200 Euro. I think these are fair and reasonable prices. But if you want to buy more than one dagger we could negotiate the best price for you. I am waiting for your suggestions. I can also sell the Luger 1916 for 600 US$ and the holsters for 120 Euro each. What do you think about such prices ? I think it could be acceptable for you. Anyway, I am after my vacation time in Dominican Rep. where I usualy dive and my research budget is very limited right now. But I am also just before my next archival research trip to Spain. I have a friend who is a Jefe Departamento de Referencias in Archivo General de Simancas and he is going to be retired very soon. And I think I have the last chance to get an access to the sections usualy closed for the other people. So, I made a decision to sell some of the items from my collection and find someone I cooperate in the future. I hope we can establish good and long term relationships. I have a proposal for you which I think could be fair and reasonable. If you will spend a half of the payment for the items you may have an interest - I will send the items to you and you will pay the ballance as soon as you get them. I think that could be fair. As a payment way I prefer the bank transfer. As a delivery method I prefer the recommended courier mail like DHL or UPS as they give us the possibility to track the parcel online. If you want I can also send to you my EU Passport and EU Driving Licence. Okay all for now. I am waiting for your answer. All the best. Paweł Shipwrecks.Research@yahoo Greetings Pawel - Yes! Please send me a copy of your EU Passport and EU Driving license as I would prefer to know who I am dealing with. As I am interested in purchasing the whole lot of daggers as well as the Luger and holsters I think a discounted price of 1,800 Euros for the lot would be reasonable. Do you agree? Thank you - Gordon |

LOL ........... My last correspondence with this jerk!
In a message dated 5/19/2008 11:13:03 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, shipwrecks.research@yahoo.com writes: Gordon: Thank you for your answer. I made a decision to sell some of the items from my collection for one important reason. I am just before my next archival research trip to Spain. I have a friend who is a Jefe Departamento de Referencias in Archivo General de Simancas. He is going to be retired very soon and I have the last chance to get an access to the sections usualy closed for the other scientists. But I am after my vacation time in Dominican Republic and my research budget is very limited right now. So, I made a decision to sell something from my collection. I was thinking to take some of the items to Madrid and sell there, but If you want to make a deal with me - we could do it and hopefuly cooperate in the future. I start traveling on Wednesday next week and shall stay in Madrid, Simancas and Seville for 4 weeks. My main interest is maritime archaeology, sailing and wreck diving. WW2 history is my other hobby. So, the best way for me is the bank transfer and courier mail delivery. I wish I knew about travel to Poland before, a few weeks ago and I could change my travel plans. Anyway, keep me inform if you want to make a deal. But of course there is no pressure. What is your business ? Pawel - Are you so stupid that you don't think most collectors aren't aware that you are a THIEFT and a LIAR? I've been playing your silly game just to see what you would do. Your convenient trip to the Dominican Republic is exactly what I expected. One day, my friend, you will get paid back in spades for all the money you have stolen from honest collectors! May your life be interesting! My correspondence with you will be posted on GDC to let people know you are still around and trolling. Gordon |

Maybe answer next time:
Hello, I am concerned about stories that I hear about fakes from Eastern Europe or dealers who are not honest. I am certain that this is not you, but my wife insists that I be cautious as we won a large amount of money in the lottery and we get many offers. So I propose that you send me just the SS and SA and the Kriesgsmarine dagger. When I get those I will send you the entire amount of money. That is very fair I think. Regards ...... Dave |

Has professional con written all over - even the approach - overly pushy with showing you ID, "too good to be true pricing" that naturally makes you wanna plunk down the big buck for multiple items - name dropping - pathetic, absolutely pathetic - argh

Unreal.
Sort of reminds me of the email spam we get from South Africa: "Deat Mr. Sword-fish, It's come to our attention you may be the heir to the DeBeers diamond fortune. Just send us $1000 in unmarked $5's, your social sec #, DOB, driver license number, address, phone number, credit card number, 3 digit code on the back, mothers maiden name...." Classic. __________________________ Collecting Army Swords "Bei Mir Bist du Schön" |
