Many have noticed that 1000s of topics have been lost just this year lone here t GDC. You will find no topic older than 2006 here!

If a member wants to save a topic he should copy it himself somehow,,,and / or,, request the Mod. to save it! It takes a little time so have some patience with your Mod!

The instructions how to save it will be in the Moderator forum...........

How about dumping groupee & getting some better software?

Never had these problems before groupee

Or is that too simple?

This is a problem the owner needs to sort out IMO. Who has the time to go looking for topics that might be worth saving?

G,
Thank you for your concern - along with many of us. Unfortunately, the person who needs to address this situation seems to be uninterested.
As I have stated before, I will not spend money for membership until this problem is corrected, and would urge others to do the same.

*Landser,, no, your right, its very simple.. The problem is the absentee owner.. Nothing got done but a small reorganization of the forums by Dave H. and some of the moderators are gone...

*Gus,,If you,,or any member wants to keep a topic for their reference they better copy it themselves,,or ask the Mod to make a new one..
If you have some free time you might want to ask Dave if you could volunteer to save some of the important topics..
There's 28 Mods, one or 2 that are still MIA ,,and around 40 forums,,stuff will get lost period.. Not enough manpower/time to save what should be saved..

Tell you all something right now,,,it's not the end,,the 2006 topics will soon be going.. So IF you have interest,,don't complain because it won't do a dam thing,,again, copy it yourself or contact the Mod!.Go for it or don't but don't say you haven't been warned..

Gaspare, I appreciate your concerns & the advance warning of the 2006 postings. Any caustic overtones in my comment was not aimed in your direction. On a lighter note maybe the forum URL should just be changed to "germandaggers.gone" Big Grin

The moderators care, the members certainly do & I`m sure Dave is quietly concerned as well. This ship needs a captain cos it`s on the rocks!

I wish Gus.. Bumping will do nothing,,it will eventually go .
*ONLY starting a new topic and moving the old into it will save it.. This can only be done by a Modertor..

There are some very valueable topics on the forums and they should be saved.. Only way is to request it of that forums Moderator.......,G.

Fuuny thing about this site is that no matter how terrible this problem is, the status-quo of the paying members, the Moderators, and the Owner continues to stay steadfast and unchanged . . .

Makes you wonder what would happen if EVERYBODY would quit sending the Owner any more money, doesn't it?

I seriously feel it is too late! This has been brought up before.
http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/217096573/m/8090062655
Numerous times I have asked for input on what to save from the Medals and Badges section and got nada. We were not supposed to lose any after such and such 2004. Then we had the 2004-March 2005 loss. Many good threads gone Frown. More Medals and Badges threads are close to disappearing, April 2005 - ? A number of them I started so should you wish to save any of my images, please feel free. I saved a number of threads before this latest loss but we're losing ground and old contributers at such a rapid pace I don't feel the urgency to save anymore till I see a major change.
Dave, I wish to commend you for all you have done.

Well, I made a mistake,,2006 is NOT the cut off. April 2005 is..
No matter 1000's of topics gone..Doesn't look like there is any end of them disappearing from the site so more will eventually go. Dam shame..

*Joe, you save what you can,,what you think will help the new guys and for others to refer to.. I kind of blew it. I thought it was all over and we wouldn't lose any more. Got taken by surprise a couple months ago when 100's of topics disappeared from the ring forum,,,and I lost them for good,,sorry guys..

*Dave, you seem to have occasional contact with Vern. Maybe you could tell him our concerns and foward this message below:

*VERN,, IF YOUR PERSONAL PROBLEMS ARE SO MUCH THAT YOU HAVE NO TIME FOR THIS SITE PLEASE LET DAVE [if he wants it] OR ANOTHER HAVE CONTROL.. IF YOU STILL SOMEHOW CANNOT GET THE DEDADICATED LINE FOR THE SERVER IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND YOU NEED A PLACE TO KEEP THE SERVER [DEPENDING HOW BIG IT IS] YOU CAN KEEP IT AT MY HOUSE!

Gaspare, we all got caught flat footed by the last loss of threads.
Wasn't supposed to happen.
Figuring the next loss to cover up to Sept. 2005 that leaves Fritziii and I, four pages of subjects to decide what to save. Not counting those that got bumped forward, back when we were told that would save them. Some of those are going to be difficult to flush out.
With no enthusiasm from the contribuiting members that remain?

Bret - Paying for it won't help you either - it only helps Vern! I'll bet many others that have complained have paid multiple amounts more than you ever have - in my book, that gives them the right to vote, and to "btch" . . . Wink

Hey Denny! Howz it goin? hope all is well down your way Smile
Yip I'm sure(I know) many have paid more than me without a doubt. I have seen the hash re-hashed till it aint hash no more on this topic. And it should be the main topic but Vern is apathetic on the issue. If as anything I say really matters anyway!! The main thread I always cared about is gone and they were promised to be returned. But.... So it goes. Yes, I feel that paying for the membership does allow me to gripe more or at least with some due cause. I'll stop cause I know this horse aint gettin up! This is not any different than the Max/Gdc program it was a money maker and for those conned into it we were sukers. But I still btch about that also Wink

Bret, you don't have to pay to disagree. I have been a member here a very long time and used to pay...the real question is why? If the owner was a great guy we all liked and learned from it certainly would be a different attitude on my part. It's like dealing with Howard Hughes. The lights are on...but nobody's home.

Mark, I remember that you had offered to buy the site along with others maybe I dont know the whole deal. I wish that would have happened least you have a vested interest in it. You love the stuff. Also is the mods need to post on a regular basis maybe the owner should post on a regular basis also. When Craig started this it was very good but his agenda seemed to shift and well we have swapped mails so we know where that stands!
I remember when i was a mod at the axis history forum Craig ask me if I thought the net could support 3 forums? Maybe that was early 02'. Look where we are now, stagnant, repeating the same over and over. Loss of great infomation, reference photos. The Axis forum has adds directly in topics. We have grown and learned as collectors but the folks who own and run the sites see something else and damned if I know what that is? money I guess. I shold also be clear that I paid a years worth here to try and sell a few things also. See, that horse aint gettin' up! Mark BTW I sent you a email also with something you should see, maybe you have already but just a FYI on ethics figured you would get a kick out of it Big Grin
