I just shipped something to a dealer in Germany from North America. Stupid me, little voice in back of my head was saying to cover up the swas, but I didn't.

Thinking its going to a dealer who regularly ships out and receives returns from outside the EU didn't think it would be a problem.

I've not heard any word, but as of tommorrow the "normal delivery window" of the item will have passed, and I've got no updates yet.

If customs has got involved, in this situation would they seize the item send it back or what? Any other experiences like this?

I think the saving grace is that is is going to a fairly prominent dealer over there, hopefully won't have a problem.

Just trying to get a feel of how bad it could get!

Let me tell you my nightmare. A few years ago I bought 2 hats from Helmut Weitz for $4,200. I didn't like them after a while so I mailed them USPS back to Germany. Helmut was real nice, but German customs wasn't. They are more than happy to see any swastika insignia leave Germany, but they don't want to see them come back. So German customs snatched the hats and sent Helmut a note about that they had the hats. That's all that customs would do. Helmut was 300 miles from were the hats were at. I can understand why he didn't run down and pick up the hats. At 6 months into this ordeal Helmut said - give me a letter for German customs saying you don't want the hats to go to Helmut, and please send them back to me in the USA. 3 months later I finally received them back in the mail. I then sent them to our friend in England who was going to see Helmut in a couple of weeks. He physically took the hats to Helmut. Helmut then sent me my purchase price back. I wouldn't send ANYTHING German WWII to Germany again. I about had an ulcer over all this. I was very lucky to get them back at all. That is my experience.

For anyone shipping from outside the EU dictatorship then I might suggest sending to a U.K. colleague who can then forward to Germany without the problem of cross border customs or content descriptions etc.

Not a nice place to be. Sometimes things can take a little longer than expected in my experience so don`t give up hope just yet.
I hope it works out well for you.
