Many of you have probably grown weary of this issue as I have but this new information should put it to rest. Last night I was cleaning out a closet and going through boxes I haven’t opened in years and found stuff I had forgotten about. I came across a reference published in 1980. This is excellent information from a very reliable source that we all can learn from. Following are pictures of text taken from it along with some other pictures. I only picked out the Army and Luftwaffe but it covers most Daggers. If you should have any questions concerning other Daggers let me know and I will post the information on them as well. I certainly hope this helps

This is not intended to start any kind of argument, silly or otherwise. People WILL believe what they want to believe because some one they hold in high regard said so. I AM NOT trying to add fuel to any fire. I thought this might be useful information to any one that wanted to see it, not to draw flak form any front. And certainly not from a moderator.
I forgot to add the authors of this dead horse.
Paul, I myself don't believe they were all white.
Houston, I give up, why do you feel you have to blast every post I make. Whats up with you?
Just a question.

That mags publishing date is too old to consider any real accurate references. The grips were already seasoned by the time its been written. Manufactures catoloques were it!

There you go, the truth is out. Old Tom is to old to be a reliable voice in Third Reich Daggers.
Damn, who is too new to not be doubted?
Sorry I wasted my time.

Donnie,

That article presents no opinion whatsoever on the original color of the Army or Luftwaffe grips.

TJ says that the colors of the grip vary from white to yellow to orange. He is describing those daggers as they existed when the article was written - 1980? - and he is correct about the colors they were then. This is not new information.

That article - or the parts you showed - contain no speculation at all on the original grip color - just a current description.

Dave

PS - Donnie - If you want to use profinity, you need to try another forum.

I don't understand the controversy - I thought all grips were white or orange or yellow. Is the the debate on the black gripped "funeral" or Railroad daggers? It's no fun to follow an argument when you're not sure what the fight is about....

Dave Hohaus,
Since I am not allowed to send you a private message I will post this. Your suspension of Vetter is the last straw for me. Granted I have been a "freeloader" on GDC never paying any dues and will not be a huge loss for all the learned members. But, I have one last thing to state. If you want to belive that all these handles started out in life as white and only white I can only agree with Jack Angolia, "That's stupid". Following this say what you may I don't care! Oh, and PLEASE suspend me also!

Mr. Pumphey,

I don't have any opinions on what grip colors were out of the factory.

As I said above, that article was a description of the Heer and Luftwaffe daggers as they existed when the article was written - not what color they might once have been. I stand by that opinion.

As for Vetter, he has been warned many times for using profanity and other Code of Conduct violations and is now suspended until the end of the month.

I too think "suspensions" are ridiculous..

I do not believe gratuitous use of profanity is called for, but an occasional dropping of a curseword does not hurt anybody or anything. We are all grown men, and we probably all use profanity offline. If a moderator wants to edit a bad word, I dont have a problem with that.
But banning a valuable contributor because he may have used, SHHHHHH, "a bad word" then we are limiting the credibilty of the site.

Lets get real, we value and collect the memorabilia of a Party who slaughtered MILLIONS of people, I think we can tolerate a profane word now and then.

Profanity has never offended me, we are after all friends here.
