I am posting this to alert the membership here that we as collectors won a huge victory today.
The US Supreme Court has ruled that the right to keep and bear arms is an individual right and not a collective right as some factions have maintained. This is not and will not become a "political" thread here and is meant to be informative to some of my old friends and collegues as a forum of this type is meant to be. With that in mind Houston please go ahead and close this thread as agreed. I will now go back into my self imposed exile. Jim This Supreme court ruling is based upon a case that originated in Washington DC a few years back involving a security guard named Heller. He brought suit against Washington which has/had one of the strictest gun laws in the Country making it about impossible to keep a weapon at the ready in your home to defend yourself and your family. He was an armed guard but was required by law to lock up his firearm once at home. This suit was upheld in the lower courts which effectively overturned the Washington law but it was appealed all the way to the U S Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has avoided hearing any cases relating to the Second Ammendment for over 70 years for reasons I won't get into at this time. In a nutshell some have always argued that the 2nd Ammendment only applied to recognized groups such as a militia while others including collectors have argued that the right to keep and bear arms is an individual right just like the rest of the rights in the Constitution are individual rights. The preponderance of evidence pointed to the collectors and others being correct that the 2nd Ammendment IS an individual right and the Supreme Court has just upheld this position. Once the Supreme Court makes a decision it is usually very difficult to get it overturned. This is a huge win for collectors and those of us who highly value our freedoms. its about time that a law passed in 1791 was finally re-affirmed,even if it was only 207 years later!!!

IMO this information is very important to all those who love and collect firearms as a piece of history as well as a well made product-some being no doubt a thing of beauty and some are even art forms. To preserve this thread to prevent prohibited political comments we are locking it down.
