bought a few things from a fellow today.he claims this was his fathers helmet.it has a rough surface.i can not see any markings.i was wondering if they had this type of bale during ww2.if not what era is it.here are some pictures.thanks paul

looks good to me,,,the spot welded seam looks to be in the back,not in front as preferred by most GI collectors,i believe the rear seam shells were produced in oct 1944 and later of course,,,the exterior of the earlier shells will have very minute pieces of cork mixed in the paint while later ones will have fine grain sand mixed in the paint,all in all,a nice looking helmet,,imo...

I agree looks like a decent one, the color looks a little lighter than the WW2 shade, but that could just be the pic.
