THIS IS A FINE SWORD I PICKED UP WITH A SMALL COLLECTION I BOUGHT FROM A COLLECTORS WIDOW.1850 FIELD OFFICERS SWORD IN GREAT SHAPE.RAY SKIN HANDLE AND WIRE ARE PERFECT.THE ENGRAVING ON THE BLADE IS VERY LIGHT.NO MAKERS MARK.THE SCABBARD HAS BEEN REPAIRED AT THE END.I BET SWANSON COULD FIX THAT PROBLEM.WHEN I GOT IT HOME I WAS LOOKING IT OVER AND BINGO-A PRESENTATION ON THE GUARD.PRESENTED TO LIEUT.S.B. HARTZ BY THE MEMBERS OF CO.G 108 REG.166 VOL.

A very nice 1850 Staff & Field Officer sword Paul. Unfortunately this one looks like it has the wrong scabbard for the 1850 Foot Officer sword. The S&F sword fittings had brass fittings with scalloped edges while the Foot Officer scabbards had the plain fittings like the scabbard on your sword.
