It's the WW2 pocket insignia for one of the six Engineer Special Brigades

Yep.
These guys went in before the 1st waves of assault troops to open up lanes in beach obstacles etc.

Cool photo Dwight! I have never seen a M43 jacket with the insignia on.

Someone had told me this patch was made in England for the troops of WWII and was a little rare? Any truth to this? Thanks!

As I posted in an earlier thread, my father was in the 4th Engineers Special Brigade, 594th ES & BR and he had both patches on his Ike jacket. I now have the jacket in my closet. His unit was preparing to invade Japan when the Atomic Bombs were dropped and the war ended. They landed in Wakayama Bay in Sept. of '45. I don't think his patches wer made in England.

They did make a few of the blue patches in england, on wool felt with embroidered details, which is rare, but they also made in the US in the standard embroidered type in the thousands which is not rare. I have not seen an English made 'seahorse' patch.
