From the original veteran that served in the 78th. Inf Div. 311 Regt.
Taken after the battle of the Ruhr from surrendering prisoners. Veteran says that the Political Leader Walther PPK came from a SS officer but I feel that his memory has failed him. All as found and uncleaned. P-38 came in this 1937 dated Luger holster. Vet said that he also had a Luger but got drunk and lost it in a Poker game. Undoubtedly, the orignal P-38 holster was misatkenly exchanged for this Luger holster at that time. What a find!!! ![]() |

That is some great looking stuff you have there John. The grips are something I have never seen before.

The Walther Political leader pistols had to be purchased by the Leaders themselves. The grips were an award item and awarded separately from the pistol.

John,
I had picked up a stone mint "nskk" marked PPK pistol on one of my hotel byuys, about 15 years ago ,kept it for about a year, and finally sold it to a friend, I sure wish i had it now. It was the only one i ever had. Bob robert grant |

Very nice. I have a party leader PPK and matching mint condition party leader holster in my collection.

I thought party leaders had to be rzm marked?

I believe the early guns had the RZM marking and regular grips. The later guns had no RZM marking and the eagle grips. There are a lot of fake eagle grips floating around.

Question for you PPK collectors. I have a opportunity to purchase a nice ww2 marked High Leader PPK with brown grips. How can I tell if the grips are original or reproduction grips? Thanks, Jager

Here's a link showing some fake grips versus the original ones. If someone takes the time and money, it would be possible to make near perfect fakes, but that's true with about anything.

Thanks for the info. Gives me something to start with. The authentic grips look more like those on my regular PPKs, while the repros seem to have a more dull finish and lack the metal supports inside during molding. Are there any repros that have the inside metal supports that you have seen? Are only certain years RZM marked or are all the High Leader RZM marked? Thanks again for all the help. Yager
