Hi folks
Im on the brink of finally getting my first 34 and I wanted to check your thoughts on restamped part numbers from an armourer and how they effect the collectability and needless to say future value of an item. I have viewed quite a few items for sale , just want some informed opinions to put my mind more at ease. Heres an example of what I mean.

I am thinking on one hand that the stamps kinda spoil the clean look of the gun but on the other hand prove that it has seen some action and been used extensively. I understand that as parts where replaced or modified these numbers where updated, is this correct or can anyone give me an explanation of the above part renumbering.

Is it a curio and relic MG or transferable MG? if it's a dummy gun I wouldn't worry about it's collectability. If it's a C&R MG it's still going to have some value over time as it's all an original MG34 even with the extra stamps, but not as much obviously as an unmarred version. If it is a transferable MG with a new (prior to 1986 but after 1945) receiver or a rewelded receiver then I would think it would not hold as much value (still going to be pricey) and woudl probably search out a really nice all matching parts kit and then use the goobered up parts when I take it out and keep the really nice parts set for displays etc.

Hi Ya Kev
Its a pre 45 relic weapon, but i guess what Im wondering is if the part was replaced it would just have a new id number, Im curious about that if the serial is scored out and a new one imprinted what exactly has been replaced or why was it done ?
