This is a Harrington & Richardson Inc .22 single shot .22 long rifle trainer, long sold out by the CMP. This one has all the Redfield Olympic sights and is in extremely good condition. I got it at the door of the gun show while attending the SOS next door. It's a very heavy rifle used by the Marine ROTC units.

Nice rifle. I like the Redfield International Mark Eight (eight clicks per target ring) rear sights a little more, but the Olympic front sigth with an amber insert combined with the circle insert makes the best front sight IMO.
This is the set-up on my Winchester 52 Bull gun that I use. It served me well throughout my high school shooting years and put me on the State of Illinois High School championship team my senior year. I love that Winchester. Ron Weinand Weinand Militaria MAX CHARTER MEMBER LIFE MEMBER OVMS |

I sighted this rifle in today and put twelve rounds through virtually the same hole at 79', the length of the indoor range. I met a retired Marine Master Sergeant who was the ROTC weapons instructor for Vanderbilt University for 4 years. It took him 4 rounds to put one dead center (a slight adjustment after each of the 4 rounds) and from that point on...all were dead on.
A really magnificent firearm! Destined to become one of my very favorites. Mark "I'm your huckleberry, that's just my game" ![]() |

Here is the entire rifle...deadly accurate iron sights.

The original rear sight was most likely a Redfield Palma. They are great shooters. Mine is probably my favorite trainer for shooting.

I dug an example of each model of my U.S. trainers out one day for a family photo.

Dude! How do they shoot on target? The rear sight on mine is a Redfield Olympic.

My H&R will shoot just as well as my Winchesters or 40X's. The stock looks like a railroad timber, but it wasn't designed for looks.

Daddy, sure made sure Jr. had the best!
All of those in my photo are U.S. military issued. The Winchester Winder musket at the top is probably my favorite to look at. |

Man what a great thread! Tom, that is a beautiful rifle!
Timboo..I wish you lived closer and we could have a match! I had no idea you guys had rifles like the one I posted...they are at the top of the list in my book! Great shooters. Now I want to move out in distance and see what I can group. Mark "I'm your huckleberry, that's just my game" |

Sorry Mine is not Military related but I could not help but Share : )
Question do you have your Guns on display or Put away Timboo, thats an impressive lineup for sure.......And Mark your piece is Killer...whats it weigh in at. TOM |

I'd love to have them on display along with the rest of my collection, but they're much safer in the gun vaults. Plus I just don't have the room to display as many as I'd like to.

The one I have weighs in at 12 pounds 9 ounces. It is heavy but very stable and does not move at all when fired on a sandbag.

Any Idea of the true range on these just with these types of sights?
|
||||
|
My better rifles will group five rounds around 1/2 to 3/4 inches or so off a benchrest at 100 yards. That under near perfect conditions though with very good ammo. Any wind at all tends to blow the small bullets around too easy.
