For show and tell is a double date Naval marked artillery Luger. I think it's cool to have a pistol that saw service in WWI, Weimar, and WWII era. The M over the anchor is a Reichsmarine stamp. And the N1161 is a North Sea property number used sometime around 1935/1937. Noted book author Jan C Still said in his Axis Pistols book. That the estimated number of artillery Lugers procured for the Reichsmarine and the Kreigsmarine was 700. With very few having Naval markings. Their are about only 30 knowned Naval marked artillery Lugers in his data base. I think their must have been no more than a few hundred artillery Lugers that were Naval marked.

A beautiful gun and you are right about its periods of service. If only it could talk.

That is a great Luger, with a very clean unit mark. Never saw a Navy model before with the 8" barrel. Great pickup, best of luck.

Dow Cross, Gentlemen

It's always a pleasure to have an Artillery Luger in your display case. Just the visual dynamic of this weapon stimulates the sences.
Dow Cross: I hope you don't mind, but I kept your picture in my hard drive as it is quite stunning.

I Love This Stuff
