I was hoping that I could get some info on this helmet insignia. Seller claims it's for a Gardi flame thrower unit.
Thanks

Hi,

I have to agree with Rob. The insignia is not for the Prussian guard. I have no idea who wore this style of signia.

Thanks Joe Semen

Feedback from another collector.
As far as I know in WWI the Prussian Garde Pioniere were the first Flammenwerfer units and since they were Prussian the shield should be quartered black/white - such helmets for the Prussian Guard in general are well known. This might be some sort of postwar device - just perhaps some sort of Munich Einwohnerwehr, since the Munich colors were yellow and black and helmets with circumferential yellow and black bands are attributed to them.

I do know that the odd colors appear to have been done a long time ago. That said I would not buy this helmet.
