Hi folks,

Just picked this up today.. Nice SD.. Helmets dont usually get me all bothered but this one is odd enough..

Nice bullet/shrapnel hole in the back.. right through the liner..

too bad I dont have some Lumenal for blood traces like in CSI?

It is HUGE.. ET69 and has the guys name in it.

I think that if the owner would wear it when he was shooted inside the helmet should be some kind of "mess" - dark brown spots on the leather....

It looks pretty clean ....

I agree, that would have been a messy one. Usually those kind of liners are destroyed by the blood, or were removed by the vets. Sill a very nice helmet with some combat history.

and a couple nice "Friends" it has sitting nearby too!

You noticed that.. Mr. Jerry.. Good eye.

I love getting calls on my ads.. I was taking shots of them for my records since the market is pretty soft on them now. They are both very nice early SS daggers. One has the SS man's number and it was a ROHM. 1/2 of the Gottlieb mark is still there.

Great helmet . If the strap was up whilst the Jerry was wearing it the bullet could have entered his head and the helmet could have fallen off . BTW there is no size 69 must be a 68 . Rob

I also think this is a great helmet and agree that when struck the helmet could have fallen off when the soldier went down. The worst part is that he was shot from behind...was he fragged by his men? Pretty clean aimed shot to be randomly placed dead center. Just my thoughts.

Most of these helmets with through and throughs are not combat related. They were done post combat by enterprising souvenir sellers and those wishing to enhance their stories.

How about this WW1 with a hole going in but none coming out? It went through the liner but so signs of exiting! Never know what this went through but could have been sit on a wooden post and shot and then there would not be any other damage except the entance hole?
