I have seen the Kamikaze headbands of course, like the ones the Pilots wore in the ceremony where they drank sake prior to taking off on a suicide mission, but there are other types of WWII Japanese headbands too right?
I have one with an anchor in the middle and 'M' shaped chevrons on either side of the anchor. It is roughly 1 by 3 feet and is printed on muslin like cloth. I'm just curious what these were used for???? Big Grin

They were multi purpose navy hand towels. Very common. Ocassionally used as headband. These were given/issued as comfort gifts.

Thanks Jareth, I really like it, simplicity is sometimes a virtue. Are there any good web sites for japanese militaria? I have quite a bit of German militaria but now I am starting to get interested in Japanese items.
