I have seen the Kamikaze headbands of course, like the ones the Pilots wore in the ceremony where they drank sake prior to taking off on a suicide mission, but there are other types of WWII Japanese headbands too right?
I have one with an anchor in the middle and 'M' shaped chevrons on either side of the anchor. It is roughly 1 by 3 feet and is printed on muslin like cloth. I'm just curious what these were used for???? "Mountain Dew or Crab Juice?" Homer "God that stuff is awful. I'll have a Crab Juice!" The Simpsons |

They were multi purpose navy hand towels. Very common. Ocassionally used as headband. These were given/issued as comfort gifts.

Thanks Jareth, I really like it, simplicity is sometimes a virtue. Are there any good web sites for japanese militaria? I have quite a bit of German militaria but now I am starting to get interested in Japanese items.
