Dear friends,

Two characters on the tang (characters were made in gold).

Is it a “mei” of the swordsmith, or the characters were made be an expert who signed a name of a swordsmith or a signature was made by ……?
Thank You.

THE GOLD INLAID SIGNATURE IS A ATTRIBUTION TO TADAYOSHI OR HIZEN PREFECTURE. THE INLAY IS POOR AND WAS EVIDENTLY PUT IN TO DECEIVE AS THE BLADE IS DEFINITLEY NOT A HIZEN BLADE. TADA YOSHI WAS ONE OF THE TOP SWORDSMITHS OF THE EDO PERIOD.
AN ATTRIBUTION IN GOLD THAT IS NOT ACCOMPANIED BY THE SIGNATURE OF THE APPRAISER IS SPURIOUS AND HAS NO VALUE.
