Recent pick up what is it ???

Been looking about but can find anything similar,

I sure is Japanese .. Single Blossom Police ??

The dagger is supposed to be a police dagger. The badge on the pommel is the Japanese Police badge. Having said that, the ones that I have seen that are made like this with the rising sun motif on the backstrap have all been reproductions.

Typically, originals will have a plain backstrap without the rising sun. They will also typically have black leather or same grips instead of this new brown leather wrap. Also, they will have nickel scabbards (that typically are fairly flakey) instead of chrome plated ones.

Suprized to find its a repro as it came from a japanese vets family here in the uk, with an army helmet, various other kit and personal items. Wrapped in Japanese 1945 newspaper.

The scabbard is chrome plated. ??
