Hi,
Got these yesterday from the daughter of a veteran. They were stored in a damp basement so all the steel is rusty. I believe the Samurai is a war produced sword. Anyone have any information on the dress swords? Thanks for any help.

The bayo is a late war production (note the straight quillion). The samurai is an army officer sword and the other two are navy I think. Someone more informed than I will tell you more about them I'm sure.

The two similar swords are Army parade swords. The full backstrap indicates they are Field grade kyu-gunto for higher ranks. Too bad they have been abused over the years as this virtually destroys their value.

The katana is a regular Shin-Gunto Army Officer sword.
Two others are Army Ofiicer parade sabers (with ten petal cherry blossom mon on the backstrap).

...ORPO was faster with the answer. Cool
