What are thoose? I don't like them at all. That officer visor has an 8 pointed star on the insignia. What is that? Both of them looks post war to me....

Both caps are from WW2. First cap is officers cap in the merchant marine. Second cap (I bought it!)is a petty officers cap with second variation insignia. Early insignia is an anchor in oval bordered by rope. Green cover is NLF/land garrison cover. Extremely rare cover & almost worth more than the cap.

Jareth, thanks for the explanation... Would you mind if I ask where are you getting all thoose info? Is out there a good reference book or is it your experience?

(I have only the Nakata book and there is no such stuff written)

Bart, no books on headgear...yet! It's taken me 25 plus years of learning, making mistakes & exchanging info with fellow collectors to be knowledgible on the subject. If you ever have questions just ask on these boards or email me. Wish I had a computer or boards to help me out in the beginning!
