I would like to add that this band is folded as shown it is 32 inches long and 11 inches wide.I don't think it is belly band. Reason being, they are signed ? The answer hopefully lies in it's translation.

Kamikaze. Underneath is I'm guessing a location followed by a name, Endou -----.

It sure looks salty enough to be period, I wonder what everyone else thinks?

Does anyone know if Japanese pilots sent these home to their family,Or were they worn on their final mission??

The Headband was brought home by a 4th Division Marine from one of the Islands. A friend bought it from the Vets son. The Vets son also has a Japanese Navy hat and his Dads medals. But are MIA right now somewhere in his home.
Oh, I forgot to mention. The cloth that the headband is made of is like a cheese cloth linen material.
