8 inches total length, I purchased it from an auction house, they told me that it was a miniature SS Nazi dagger. Can anyone tell me if it is real, or what the story is behind these? Are they valuable, or? This was an impulse buy on my part. Thanks in advance!

Sorry uncledave but the auction house gave you bad information, it is most definitely NOT an SS mini at all but rather a "1st Model" Naval miniature. It doesn't appear to be maker marked but if authentic, I've seen them run around $300.00.

While the existence of an SS mini is still a subject of some debate, attached is a picture of one for you to compare to yours. Hope this helps. ~ Ian

This little SS dagger is obviously "homemade" with a Damascus blade...but a pretty neat job.

I bought it with the chained SS about 16-18 years ago. They were supposedly brought home together by an Ohio veteran.
