Gents,

I picked up a nice boxed mini sword from Heidelberg the other day. The typical German tourist sword made for domestic consumption rather than export. A photo of the sword in the box showing the gold papered lid and the aqua fleece lining.

Closeup view of the Portepee with a silver plated mesh band and the etching. Notice the filigree on the ends of the Heidelberg etch and the gold fill.

Finally, a closeup view of the nickeled hilt showing the detail to the lionhead. The grips appear to simulate sharkskin and there is no langet. It is difficult to date something like this but I suspect it is probably from the 1930s.

What are your thoughts?

George

Johnny,

Thanks for the kudos. I liked this little sword when I first saw it.

ORPO,

I'm with you, I like that little sword. Nice find and if you ever feel like finding it a new home, mine is available. Smile Did you actually find it in Heidelberg?
Happy Hunting
