Hi All:
It has been often cited, but I have never seen it published. I finally came across the actual order sent out to SS-Standartes from 4 July 1934 for the removal of the Röhm inscription from the Honor Daggers. A translation would be a big help in understanding what was supposed to be done. Thanks, Ross Kelbaugh www.ssdaggers.com |

Hi Ross,
try with this translation: SS-Honor Daggers At the previously issued SS-Honor Daggers, wearing the dedication of the former chief of staff Röhm "In cordial companionship", the dedication has got to be removed by grinding. To avoid higher costs, this grinding should be done locally, as possible. After removal of the dedication the dagger can be worn further." Gerd |

Great stuff! Explains all the half hearted and amateur attempts, as the steel is hard!

Great stuff.Agree with you there.I have one that looks like the "grinder" must have been
three sheets to the wind drunk. Seiler (Yank in UK) |

Ross could you post the document and the translation in the Rohm dagger section?

Thanks Gerd! You have helped to add some important insight into this event. I find it very interesting that the reason for the grinding to be done locally was primarily economic. Regards, Ross Kelbaugh www.ssdaggers.com |
