In going thru my photos of my trip to Germany this Spring I came across this one. The plaque is on a building in Munich. I can translate it ok but I can't make real sense out of it:

Generally the plaque lists the different consecutive fates of the building which once stood there.
Transl.:
Here (in the meaning of: on this place) was standing the / WITTELSBACHER palace / raised (started to raise) 1848 by / FRIEDRICH von GÄRTNER (,) / (raised during the years) 1848-1868 (.) / (It has been the)old-age-resistance / (of) KING LUDWIG(S)I (the S is needed in german grammar)(.) / (From)1887-1918 / (it has been) living place of KING LUDWIG(S) III (.)/ (At) 1919 / (it has been) venue of the action- / -meeting of the Räte-republic. / In time of the NS-despotysm (it has been) duty-office of the / Secret State-Police. / Destroyed by bombs (in the meaning: through bombings) / 1944.

All in () has been added by me for better understanding. I hope, the text is now clear?
