Ok..! horse of a different colour..it stands for Karabiner 98 Kurz - carbine 98 with short 600mm barrel.The rifle more than likely started life as a full sized rifle and as part of the rework was shortened to carbine length.

the stamp looks not good for me.
"K.K." isn`t on a line - realy not usaual on this times for an correct worker.

I've seen worse.., but that is what the stampings stand for..who put them on, and when ? We will never know..
