If translated literally into english it would mean " Field Train". Anyway a good use of the word in military terms.

Here is a reply I received from a fellow Luger collector from Lower Saxony Germany.
Nope. "Feldzug" just means campaign, or in a certain context, "war". This word does not have a second meaning. A "field train" would be a "Feldbahn". so, this is an inscription commemorating the campaign (war) 1914/15. Regards |

Just wanted to add that yes I totally agree Feldzug means campaign in "German". I was just making a point when translating "literally" into another language the true meaning can be totaly misunderstood or lost. For example, the German word Elche, you would think it means Elk. But it means Moose. So to a German our North American Moose is an Elk. Sorry for any confusion. |
